Donc je vous le disais hier, nous avons réorganisé l’appartement ce weekend et du coup un certain nombre de choses ont bougés chez nous… Notamment le QG de notre chat Cosmopat… Fort heureusement en cette période de fêtes de noël, Cosmopat n’est jamais très loin du sapin qui se trouve dans le salon, délaissant son coussin qui se trouvait dans l’atelier. Ayant récemment découvert les joies de la polaire en s’appropriant mon plaid que j’avais laissé trainer sur le canapé, j’ai décidé de lui confectionner un protège coussin facilement nettoyable et bien chaud juste pour elle. Il n’était même pas assemblé que déjà elle faisait un petit somme dessus, bref un véritable succès !

Pour le faire, je ne me suis pas cassée la tête, j’ai coupé un rectangle de 45×85,5cm dans de la polaire prune. J’ai dessiné à mains levées et à la craie une tête de chat sur la polaire noire, j’ai retracé et découpé les paupières dans cette même polaire, j’ai utilisé un coton imprimé pour les oreilles et le nez et un pilou blanc pour le fond des yeux. J’ai assemblé les yeux et nez en appliqué au point de bourdon sur la tête de chat que j’ai elle-même appliquée sur le rectangle prune ensuite. En retournant le rectangle plié en deux face contre face, j’ai fait une couture à 1,5cm du bord tout autour en laissant néanmoins une ouverture suffisament grande pour retourner le rectangle sur son endroit. Une fois retourné, j’ai surpiqué mon carré/coussin plat à 5mm du bord avec un point très long en prenant soin de bien fermer la partie non cousue utilisée pour retourner le carré. J’ai terminé par dessiner une petite bouche avec une peinture pour tissu rose brillante en tube. Voilà c’est tout simple et ça a dû me prendre un peu moins de 3h pour faire le tout !

I was telling you yesterday that we reorganized the flat last weekend and therefore a number of things have moved at home. One of them is the headquarter of our cat Cosmopat… Luckily for us, and her, in this christmas time of the year, Cosmopat is never far from our christmas tree which is in the living room. She is therefore not as interested in her beloved cushion that used to be in the workshop room. Since she recently discovered the fleece comfort and softness by squatting a plaid I recklessly left on the couch, I decided to make her her own fleece cushion protection/little plaid easily washable and very warm. It wasn’t even sewn that she was already sleeping all over it, so I guess we can say it is a success !

To make it I didn’t do anything complicated, I simply cut a rectangle of 45×85,5cm into plum fleece. Then I hand drew a cat face directly on to black fleece (on the back of the fabric) using fabric chalk, I retraced and cut its eyelids in the black fabric. I used a printed cotton and white flannelette to draw and cut the white of the eye, the ears and the nose. I joined together the eyes, the nose and the ears using a machine satin stitch onto the black shape of the cat head and I finally sew the assembled face using the same satin stitch onto the plum fleece. I then folded the rectangle into twice, the right side of the fabric onto the right side of the fabric and I stitched all around at 1,5cm of the edge leaving just one small hole to be able to turn the square around. Once turned around (and therefore the right side being shown), I flattened the edge line and topstitched all around at 5mm using a wide stitch and making sure the hole previously left opened was closed properly. I finished the plaid by painting a small mouth using glittery pink fabric paint. Voilà ! It is really simple and it took me a bit less than 3hrs to make it all !
